Manson Chess

Manson Chess

This piece was derived from a lot of contemplation. Knowing the comparison that I wanted to make, it took me a long time to decide to go with quotes around Charles Manson's Helter Skelter murders and the game of chess. Stylistically, I decided that the voice over was better in a more monotonelike voice. I recorded both a monotone and a very sadistic and creepy version of the script with my actor, but decided that I didn't want this to just be a piece that was there to creep people out. I did however choose to use a slower shutter speed and at a few points throughout I purposely went out of focus. This was to put a little more focus on the words and less focus on the moves of the chess game.
